Pretty as a Picture

Pretty as a Picture

A visit to Nymphenburg Palace I‘d figured out from day one that everything in Munich is on a large scale, but nothing prepared me for the scale of Nymphenburg Palace. The Oldies are slow at the best of times, but even they needed two full days to get around the palace and grounds, and they still didn’t get to see it all. The Wingless Wonders spent the first day alone simply walking around the palace park. This has to be…

Art and Life

Art and Life

Königsplatz; Lenbachhaus, Munich Ah, the artful Oldies slipped another art gallery onto the agenda! This time, Lenbachhaus, which, I have to say, was well worth a visit. The World of BMW

The World of BMW

Visits to BMW Museum and BMW World, Munich Even a Winged Wonder like me knows that Munich is the home of the world-famous marque, so it was pretty much inevitable that BMW would sooner or later appear on the agenda. Which is probably why the Oldies were so flabbergasted when they spotted a Graz-registered camper van in the city centre. Graz is about 25km from our home town, but in this context, these travellers were practically our next-door neighbours! But I wasn’t surprised about where in Winnipeg they saw the van – in the car park of the Canadian Museum of Human Rights. There’s…

Muddy Waters Run Deep

Muddy Waters Run Deep

Dalnavert Museum and the Forks, Winnipeg Right. This is definitely a record. Winnipeg has got to be the furthest I have ever been from the sea! It’s slap bang in the middle of Canada, so I must be well over 2,000 km from both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Bear with me while I freak out. Eeeeeek! Right. Now I have that out of my system, I must say that I was almost equally dumbfounded by how green the city…
