Pretty as a Picture

Pretty as a Picture

A visit to Nymphenburg Palace I‘d figured out from day one that everything in Munich is on a large scale, but nothing prepared me for the scale of Nymphenburg Palace. The Oldies are slow at the best of times, but even they needed two full days to get around the palace and grounds, and they still didn’t get to see it all. The Wingless Wonders spent the first day alone simply walking around the palace park. This has to be…

Uncommon Garden

A Stroll in the English Garden, Munich I had enjoyed watching the surfers from the beaches in Portugal, but I never expected to see surfers in the middle of Munich! Visits to BMW Museum and BMW World, Munich Even a Winged Wonder like me knows that Munich is the home of the world-famous marque, so it was pretty much inevitable that BMW would sooner or later appear on the agenda. Now, the Oldies are not particularly into cars. Normally, their only interest in motorised vehicles is purely as a means of getting themselves from A to B. But I never figured that the BMW Museum would bring out the petrol…

From Colour to Black and White

MUCA Gallery; Inge Morath Homage Exhibition Hah, I’m quite the arty birdy! When I heard the Oldies we were going to a modern art gallery, I thought I’d be out of my depth as usual. But I was chuffed that I immediately recognised the works of not just one, but two of the artists. Good old Andy Warhol is a very familiar face after our trip to Medzilaborce in Slovakia. Banksy, too, after our visit of the unofficial exhibition of…
