A Spell in Hum

A Spell in Hum

Now, I am not much of a culture vulture, but I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Džmonja Sculpture Park in Vrsar. Perhaps that makes me a sculpture vulture? The location of the park on a hill overlooking the sea is a wonderful setting for the beautiful works of this world-famous Croatian artist. The Oldies were amazed that admission to the park is free. Definitely worth it!I wouldn’t know how to even begin to interpret these sculptures, made of a…

Keeping an eye on things

Keeping an eye on things

-Dobar dan! -Eh, Seamus is the name actually. Not Dan. -Ah, an English-speaking seagull. A wooden English-speaking seagull, even. How quaint! I was just saying good afternoon. Free wheeling bird

A first for me today: I went on a bike ride! Her Ladyship made a song and dance about the fact that she managed a 30km ride after having been unable to cycle for the past year. Silly twit fell off the bike and banged up her knee apparently. God, you’d think she’d just climbed Mount Everest or something. She should try flying sometime! Anyway, she took me along for the ride – Vsar to Porec, along the coast. The…

Watching the EURO 2016 in Vrsar

Watching the EURO 2016 in Vrsar

I wore my Ireland scarf, screeched my head off, all to no avail. Poor Ireland went out in the end, but my little gull chest swelled with pride. They did a great job. Well done, you boys in green! It’s been interesting watching the matches down here in Croatia. Ah, poor Croatia. My heart went out to them. They really gave it their all. The locals were very subdued after their defeat. Even the gull population seemed a little quieter…
