Reflections on a window sill

Reflections on a window sill

Seamus the Seagull at window, his head reflected doubly in the window paneHere I am again, abandoned on the window sill! The Oldies are otherwise occupied and I have been left here, all alone. Sigh!

To be honest, it is pretty nippy outside so I am not exactly heartbroken to be sitting here over the nice warm radiator, watching the world go by. And reflecting on the past few months. Ah, memories!

We left France in rather a hurry. I’ve only now had the opportunity to look at the photos again and ponder over our time there. A strange country, France. Although I’ve spent most of my bird life there, it is the country I understand the least.

France, so beautiful, you have everything! Sea, ocean, mountains, lakes, rivers, wonderful wines… the list is endless!

France, partly so decayed, so neglected. You are spoiled – in every sense. You have everything, but are sadly not always fully appreciated or nurtured by your people.

France…

Seamus the Seagull with invoice in French, Net a payer: 56.67 euros, soit 371,71 FrancsHere, look at this.  Her Ladyship has just opened the post and pulled out this French invoice.  The amount due is given in euros – and in francs. A currency that no longer exists! For those of you too young to remember, the euro came into circulation back in 2002. Fourteen years ago.

Talk about living in the past!

Anyway, I, for one am willing to embrace change.  Let’s have a little musical interlude for once.  Here’s my new favourite song, ‘Seagulls’, sung by none other than His Tiny Greeness, Yoda. Have a listen, it’s hilarious!
