Disconcerting developments

The advice from tourist office in Vsar was not to attempt to cycle to Rovinj, a beautiful old town and fishing port, some 25km away. The road along the Limski Fjord is narrow and winding with a fair amount of traffic so we resorted to public transport. Good move. Even if we had driven there, parking might well have been a challenge, seeing as catering for vehicular traffic was hardly in the minds of the town architects when Rovinj was built centuries ago on a small island, nowadays a peninsula.

Why do they have to have stall after stall of identical T-shirts, sunglasses and headgear cluttering up the place? Do they all manage to sell their stuff? I just don’t get it.

You have to give it to him, my male owner sure can cook. He has my beak watering every time he cracks out the barbecue or hot plate. He made a humdinger of a curry today when we got back from our outing. Her Ladyship was having canaries though because he told her that he wasn’t sure what the meat he bought was, not being able to decipher the Croatian on the packet. ‘It could be chicken. Or, then again, it could be rabbit.’ (My money was on rabbit in the hope that some of it might hop off the plate in my direction.) ‘Right’, says she, ‘Croatian lessons are going on the top of my list!’

So we can be sure that will never happen.

It was chicken, unfortunately.

Delicious starter too!

I’m getting very concerned. The Wingless Wonders have started packing away a few things, but even more worrying, I’ve spotted His Lordship a.k.a. Map Man studying a map of – wait for it – the Czech Republic. I don’t believe it …. nooooooo! Don’t tell me that after all those years of yearning to see the sea, I am going to be dragged inland again!

I’m in a huff.
